Suicide bomber dies in Solo Pentecost Church attack

SOLO (CENTRAL JAVA) - A Moslem suspected as a suicide bomber died after triggering an explosion that rocked the Gereja Bethel Injil Sepenuh (GBIS)Kepunton in Surakarta (Solo), Central Java, on Sunday at noon.
"We are still tracking things down. The motive behind the incident is still unknown, as is the identity of the perpetrator," a unnamed police source told Antara news service.
The Central Java Police's bomb squad unit is on the scene to investigate and officers have established a cordon around another nearby Catholic church in a protective measure.
Victims of the suicide bomb attack at GBIS, a pentecost church were wounded by nails and bolts contained in the explosive device.
Ten of the 14 injured victims, up from the eight victims previously reported, were taken to Dr. Oen Kandangsapi Hospital. "Some had to be operated upon," hospital general manager William Tanoyo said on Sunday.
William said the level of injury sustained by the victims ranged from severe to light, and that four people had already been released.
Surakarta Mayor Joko Widodo confirmed that the victims were injured by shrapnel. "[They] were hit by nails and bolts," he said after visiting the wounded in the hospital.
The National Police said that the bomb was a low explosive device as the church building itself was undamaged.
